Operations Manager Landfill

We have an Operations Manager Landfill position open at the Cherokee Run Landfill in Bellefontaine, OH

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:Evaluates, in conjunction with the General Manager, the site and service requirements in order to develop an operational plan for the landfill. Monitors and ensures compliance with safety, environmental, and equipment maintenance policies. Assures landfill is operated consistent with conditions stipulated in permt. Manages staffing levels, inlcuding safety issues/claims, and hiring, training and performance management of landfill employees. Works closely with the General Manager, Regional Engineer and Environmental Manager to develop fill sequencing plans and ensure density goals are achieved. Works closely with the General Manager and Regional Landfill Manager to ensure landfill equipment is properly maintained and new equipment is obtained when needed. Plans and lays out the operational procedures regarding the receiving and disposing of waste, completion of construction projects and yard maintenance. Reviews soil reports and provides data to Environmental Manager. Oversees refuse being received and ensures proper handling. Supervises and monitors all required testing, samples monitoring wells and monitors utilization of cover material. Implements operating procedures and ensures excellence driven standards are met. Monitors and controls all liquid and/or gas extraction systems on or around the landfill site. Monitors and controls outside contractors. Responds to and investigates accidents and injuries. Reviews and/or conducts site audits. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.

REQUIREMENTS:High school diploma or general education degree required. 3 years experience in landfill construction and waste disposal experience coupled with demonstrated construction design and plan expertise in assigned area(s) of responsibility required. 2 years directly related supervisory or management experience required. An equivalent combination of education, experience and certification may be considered. Certification as Landfill Operator required. Previous experience working around construction sites or heavy equipment requiring awareness of health and safety requirements required. Ability to effectively manage multiple projects required. Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills required. Ability to communicate effectively across various levels of the organization, and with customers, vendors and government agency representatives required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret business documents, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations required. Knowledge of OSHA and other related regulations required. Strong leadership and motivational skills required.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:Bachelor's or associate’s degree preferred.
