Junior Production Technician
The selected candidate for this position must have a High School diploma with a science background and at least 2 years work experience in a Processing Plant. Candidates must have a basic awareness of environmental regulations and have a mechanical and technical background. A valid driver's license is required. The job entails working in Environmental Operations: PCB Hazardous Waste Storage Facility, the Astoria Wastewater Treatment Facility, 90 - day hazardous and non-hazardous storage areas. The qualified candidate will perform the following operations but not limited to: - working and operating the Astoria Waste Water Treatment Facility. - physical handling of hazardous waste drums - must be able to qualify and operate at a minimum a 4-ton forklift and up to a 20-ton forklift - loading and unloading of drums and various electrical equipment - quality Control of drums, checking labels - working with transformers including loading, unloading and draining units of oil - unloading and loading of tankers - the Candidates must have excellent oral and written skills and be able to work with minimum supervision - normal working shift hours are 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM with multi shifts possible and occasional weekends when necessary PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: The nature of this job requires extensive walking/standing/lifting. Requires the ability to push/pull/lift 45-60 lbs. Must be medically approved and able to wear a respirator. The selected applicant must be able/willing to work in all weather conditions and to work additional shifts or weekends as needed.
