Veterinarian
Production Veterinarian
This position is responsible for the development and implementation of programs that prevent, control and/or eradicate diseases that affect turkey health and performance. Specific areas include:
· Review of breeds
· Nutrition
· Growing conditions and premise improvement
· Monitoring flock health, diagnosing and prescribing corrective actions, managing medication costs
· Communicating with all parties in regard to flock performance
The position will also have responsibilities in our processing plant involving food safety issues and USDA condemnation, including correlation with USDA and disposition of turkeys.
Qualifications
· Problem solving and data analysis skills
· Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
· DVM with emphasis in poultry;
· Valid driver’s license with a good driving record.
Salary commensurate with skills and experience, excellent benefit package includes a company vehicle.
Farbest Foods, Inc is a turkey processing plant in Southern Indiana. We currently process over 6 million turkeys annually and are increasing that number to over 9 million. Farbest Farms, Inc. is the live production segment of our operation. We currently have over 100 different producers and are increasing that number by over 25% due to the increase in production needs. The majority of our turkeys are grown within 50 miles of the production plant, but we also have growers located in southern Illinois. We have recently built a brooder hub and are building 2 addtional hubs in the near future for many of our contract growers.
JFS Milling, Inc. is our new state of the art automated pellet feedmill, which began operation in September 2004 and produces all of the feed for our turkeys.
