Position Description

 

Title:  Field Safety Manager

Business Unit:  Greatwide Dedicated Transport

Location:  Geographically located throughout North America

Supervisor:  Loss Prevention Manager

1.  Function Overview (Department Role):Support the implementation of the Greatwide Safety and Security Management System focusing on continuous improvementDevelop and implement program that drives operational leadership accountability to ensure compliance with Greatwide requirements as well as applicable federal, state and local regulationsDrive execution of both strategic and tactical initiatives at the terminal levelAct as point of contact for Terminal Managers within position(s) of responsibilityEngage all levels of the organization in the safety process

 

2.  Purpose (End Results):Improve performance in all primary safety metricsImprove overall Safety & Loss Prevention awareness and knowledge at all levels in the organizationDrive consistent implementation and execution of strategic and tactical initiativesDrive improved regulatory compliance

 

3.  Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Contribute to tactical and strategic Safety and Security planning, including organizational rollout of these plansDrive field execution of tactical and strategic initiativesDelivery of Safety and Security trainingProvide mentoring and technical guidance to Log Clerks (direct management responsibility)Communicate terminal safety performanceConduct trend analysisWork with terminal management in the development of location-specific action plansDrive operational ownership and accountability for safety performanceEstablish and maintain effective working relationship with terminal management and owner operatorsConduct regulatory and procedural auditsFacilitate and participate in investigationsExecute Focus Account StrategyParticipate in award recognition eventsConduct Annual Performance Evaluations of staff

 

4.  Qualifications (Education and Experience):BA/BS Degree in Occupational Safety & Health, Industrial Hygiene, Loss Prevention, Risk Management or related field required3+ years of direct field safety experience in managing employee/contractor Safety & Health, environmental and fleet safety managementCandidates possessing or in pursuit of any of the following certifications are preferred:  Certified Safety Professional [CSP], Associate Safety Professional [ASP], or Certified Safety Director [CSD]Salary range is $45K - $70K depending on experience.  The position is eligible for annual bonus of 10%.
