Operation Technician
Description:
Install service and maintain communication network transmission equipment, including SONET equipment, digital cross connect, DSLAM, Multiplexers, router,
digital loop, T1 channel banks and AC/DC power. Perform technical field activity pertaining to installation, maintenance and repair in the system network.
Requirements:
Essential Functions: Perform installation work on network transmission equipment in CO’s, POP’s, LSO’s and customer premise locations. Work includes lacing cables, wire wrapping, anchor drilling, installing rack and management hardware, mounting equipment and terminating all cables including power cable. Turn up and initialize all equipment and perform testing of network connections (DS0, DS1, DS3, BRI, PRI and switch trunks) Valid drivers license, reliable transportation and travel is required.
Knowledge and skills:
Ability to work with various software applications to include but not limited to word processing, spreadsheet and communication applications. Solid communications, organization and prioritization are essential, including the ability to work well with others and represent oneself professionally. Knowledge of Lucent, Fujitsu and Cisco SONET and transport gear is a plus.
