NOC Engineer II

The responsibilities are as follows:

- Provide project and technician oversight

- Participate with a team of telecommunications engineers and technicians who maintain and support voice, data, broadband and CATV/IPTV systems.

- Analyze telecommunications functions of the organization and its end consumers.

- Engineering professional

- Develop, improve, maintain, and implement network (communications nodes, software applications, network hierarchy, equipment configuration, power equipment, SONET, IP protocol, collocation space, PoP space, AC/DC power, communications transport, associated network management and CRM software).

- Identify issues and appropriate courses of action.

- Familiarity with a variety of telecom concepts, practices and procedures.

- Recognized as a technical leader and resource.

- Work closely with design engineering groups (planning, central office, I.T. sales, etc.)

- Normal work schedule - Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with on-call responsibilities.

 

The requirements for this position are as follows:

QualificationsMore than five years of field or network experience with a telecommunications company (CLEC/ILEC/RBOC/CATV preferred) or Internet service provider, particularly in a 24x7 NOC or engineering environment. Four-year college technical degree (BSEE, BSCS, BSCT) highly desired or significant demonstrable work experience with system certifications. Strong technical skills (Cisco, Nortel, Foundry, Unix, SONET, Nortel, DWDM, CATV/IPTV and other Telco and IP core network and equipment a significant plus. Demonstrated strong communication skills both verbal and written. Able to work well with all levels of management and technical team members. Able to work closely with other areas including Engineering, Sales, I.T., etc.

Desired Qualifications:Certification in any of a wide range of transport, or IP, or IT technologies highly desirable. CA Unicenter, CTM, Nortel Preside a plus
