MTC Engineer

Description: This position is accountable for Engineering MTC (Master Telecommunications Center) signal flow from source to MTC output including project planning, cost studies, project estimate packages, RF combining plants for Digital, Switch, HSI, Transport, CBS, CMI, IT, and channel lineups and reallocations and microwave path surveys.
Also is responsible to provide technical guidance and direction to Corporate, CBS, Transport, Data, Digital, Facilities, IT, and Vendors in making decisions as to type of equipment, site locations and construction needed to meet technical and economic objectives. Advises on FCC required records and documentation, advises DTV franchise required MTC records and reports.
In addition, this position is responsible to Engineer all infrastructure facilities for Digital, HSI, Switch, Transport, CBS, CMI, IT MTC equipment needs. As well as document processes and establish technical standards and/or policies.




Project Estimates
Provide cost analysis for purposed projects to upper management for review
Space Engineering
1) All MTC Departments
a) Allocate floor space for equipment frames and cabinets.
2) MTC Operations Department - Specify equipment locations for placing equipment within frames and cabinets

Qualifications:
Power Engineering
1) Engineer and manage all AC and DC power usage in all MTC/STC's and Remote Hubs.
2) Engineer all AC and DC power installation for all associated equipment in all MTC/STC¿s and Remote Hubs
Material Identification
1) Research and identify vendor offered materials that best meet the needs of projects to provide the best overall solution.
Verify vendor offered materials meet Corporate, FCC, Franchise, and Industry Standard specification
Initial Engineering Documentation
1) Create Project Packets containing the following details:
a) Equipment and material identification and specification
b) Equipment and material installation Space Engineering
c) All related drawings
2) Provide Project Packets to MTC Operation Tech II¿s
3) Review and approve detailed MOP¿s.
Quality Assurance
Engineers perform QA checks on projects completed by vendors
Product Evaluation
1)Evaluate all new products used in the MTC/STC for power, fiber products, analog and digital video production, and distribution
Assist in the evaluation of all new products used for video nodes in association with RF and Fiber Design departments
Engineering Complaints
1)Collect all data from MTC Operation Technicians concerning a product or material that appears to have a high failure rate or appears not to meet the vendor provided specification. Make a determination if an Engineering complaint should be directed to the Vendor for resolution.
2)Work with Vendors to provide a resolution for an Engineering Complaint.
3)Provide detailed information to Leadership with:
a)Vendor resolutions
b)Inadequate or untimely Vendor resolutions
Network Standards
Create standards and diagrams for all networks installed or maintained by MTC Operations.
Provide technical training and guidance to other MTC personnel as assigned
Facilities Engineering and Construction
Provide technical guidance and direction to system personnel in making decisions as to type of equipment, site locations and construction needed to meet technical and economic objectives.
Provide guidance in the design and construction of MTC facilities.
Facilities Maintenance
Research and validate all external environmental and safety recommendations for the MTC facilities.
Engineer and coordinate the maintenance of the systems required to support the safety and the environmental quality of the MTC
