Personal Training Department Head

Responsible for the overall direction, development, coordination, and supervision of the Personal Training Department. Ensure continuous professional growth and development of all Personal Trainers. Responsible for the Personal Training Team to provide various personal training services that offer members programs to maximize workout efficiency, improve fitness, increase stamina, enjoy their fitness experience and improve overall sense of well being. Schedule and complete record keeping according to standard operating procedures.

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Member Experience
1. Develop safe, professional, exciting and comprehensive personal training programs to ensure clients are satisfied with their workout program and remain motivated to attain their personal fitness goals
2. Monitor and instruct clients during personal training sessions on the safe and effective use of cardiovascular, flexibility and strength training equipment
3. Educate members on current health and fitness issues and trends
4. Conduct fitness consultations for new clients including pre-participation screening, Medical History, Lifestyle questionnaire, and goal setting to assess and recommend personal training programs
5. Deliver personal training programs based on referring physician’s instructions
6. Refer members to appropriate personal trainer level based on needs, when necessary
7. Complete and maintain accurate and current client files
8. Ensure Trainers organize and facilitate health and fitness seminars and fitness floor orientation programs for club members

Technical requirements :
Managerial & Supervisory
1. Ensure Assistant Department Head meets weekly with Trainers one-on-one to review business plans and business development
2. Manage 90-day on-boarding process for new Personal Trainers Ensure Assistant Department Head effectively manages the 90-day on-boarding process for new Personal Trainers
3. Mentor Personal Trainers and provide feedback, giving them tools to improve and develop stronger sales and customer service skills
4. Assess individual performance, provide feedback, and employee recognition
5. Provide effective individual performance evaluations and staff recognition programs/awards
6. Recruit, interview, and train all new personal training staff
7. Make hiring, promotion, disciplinary, and termination recommendations to the General Manager
8. Conduct weekly Personal Training Department and Management meetings
9. Attend “all club” meetings
10. Complete all assigned Mount Vernon Athletic Club University courses
