The OCDE Outdoor Science School program, which operates September through June, places emphasis on earth and life sciences, environmental study, and related activities that enrich normal classroom programs for participating students. The Inside the Outdoors Program is looking for dedicated individuals to serve as Outdoor Science Instructors this fall. Outdoor Science Instructors work at one of several sites in the San Bernardino National Forest, leading, instructing, and supervising fifth and sixth grade students in a residential setting. Instructors live on site from 10:00 a.m. Monday to 11:00 a.m. Friday, and time off varies throughout the week.  

 

This position includes room and meals during the work week as well as a salary of $428.00 per 5-day work week.

 

Instructors must be high school graduates with effective communication skills, some experience working with children, and a sincere drive to lead and instruct students in a positive and enriching manner. Teaching experience and science knowledge is desirable.  There are additional skill and physical requirements to work in this position.
