In executing these projects, our people embrace integrity, excellence, teamwork and accountability - the values that connect us across the globe.Our Earth Tech offices in Southern California and the Pacific Rim need a Senior Risk Assessor who will be responsible for the development of environmental criteria, monitoring programs, data analyses, assessments of impact due to physical stressors and environmental pollutants, fate & transport modeling, and writing technical reports. The Senior Risk Assessor will also serve as a senior QA/QC reviewer for environmental assessments and be the technical risk assessment lead for the Navy CLEAN and Air Force environmental programs. The incumbent will provide leadership to multi-disciplinary teams and participate in meetings with clients and regulatory agencies. Position can be located in Long Beach, Lake Forest, or San Diego.
Requirements:
A minimum of 8 12 years experience with the conduct of baseline risk assessments (BRAs) in accordance with with guidelines published by U.S. EPA in the Risk Assessment Guidance for Superfund: Part A (U.S. EPA 1989) and Part B (U.S. EPA 1991), and Supplemental Guidance for Human Health Multimedia Risk Assessments of Hazardous Waste Sites and Permitted Facilities published by Cal/EPA (1992) is required. Experience with the conduct of Human Health Risk Assessments (HHRAs) in accordance with Department of Defense guidance [e.g. the Navy Policy for Conducting Human Health Risk Assessments Under the Environmental Restoration Program (2001) ] is highly desirable. The successful candidate will have experience negotiating with U.S. EPA Region 9, Cal/EPA DTSC and/or State of Hawaii DOH. Experience with environmental background data evaluation, exposure assessments, quantification of exposure, and risk characterization is required. Proficiency in evaluation of exposure and risk from inhalation of chemical vapors released from soil and groundwater that accumulate in buildings is highly desirable. Proficiency in the use of both U.S. EPA and Cal/EPA cancer slope factors in estimating the risk presented by those chemicals when present is desired. The ability to communicate complex risk concepts to a layperson audience is highly desirable. Experience with project management, technical writing, and business development would be a plus. An MS in human health and ecological assessment, toxicology, earth science, biology, chemistry, environmental science, or environmental engineering is desired. A Ph.D. in one of these specialty areas is desirable.
