Sr. Scientist - Optics

Ophthonix, Inc. provides custom prescription eyewear using non-surgical wavefront technology.  We are currently seeking a seasoned optics professional to join our research & development group.

 

Responsibilities will include the planning, design and development of the next generation of ophthalmic lenses.  This will include ray tracing to evaluate and develop new lens designs, the identification of optical criteria to develop new programmable optical materials with improved stability, dynamic range and optical performance, and optical characterization of the newly designed ophthalmic lenses.  Responsibility will also include hands-on breadboard layout of stable optical trains with proper transfer optics designed to generate optical patterns for programming advanced optical materials, and assisting in the development of a prototype machine capable of patterning ophthalmic lenses.

 

This position requires a Ph.D. in Chemistry/Optics/Applied Physics or related field with at least 7 years experience.  In-depth knowledge of optics, refractive, Fresnel, diffractive lenses, optical materials and optical components, as well as the design of optical elements is required.  Excellent communication and analytical skills are required.  Familiarity with relevant regulatory requirements preferred.
