Job Description
REQUIREMENTS:
* Ph.D. in biological sciences, pharmacology or physiology
* A minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience related to in vitro electrophysiology safety studies including patch clamp safety assays (HERG, Na+, Ca2+), action potential studies, Langendorff preparation and/or other in vitro safety studies
* Familiarity with new technologies in the electrophysiology field (high throughput patch clamp, PatchXpress, binding assays)
* Strong knowledge of and familiarity with regulatory guidance as they relate to Safety Pharmacology (ICH, S7A and S7B)
* Experience managing scientists, including both Ph.Ds and non-Ph.Ds
* Excellent organizational skills
* Excellent oral and written communication skills with experience in a team-based environment is a necessity
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Conduct, interpret and communicate in vitro electrophysiological safety studies (HERG and APD assay) and present to project teams and/or management
* Interface with R&D discovery and development project teams. Provide guidance to teams with respect to cardiac electrophysiological safety
* Work together with the in vivo group aide project teams in selecting the best compounds for start of pre-development
* Oversee scientists responsible for the in vitro electrophysiology testing (non-GLP) of NCEs and NBEs
