WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING? 

The selected candidate will be responsible for the following primary duties and responsibilities:
Carry out metallurgical analysis on prototype and production test parts and field returns.
Work with cross-functional teams to develop new technologies that may be applicable to current or new product.
 Develop and optimize new and existing process technologies to improve the product quality, reduce scrap rate and cost, and shorten development time.
Improve the understanding of product performance and reaction to the internal and external manufacturing processes.
Direct, monitor, and follow through with company sponsored internal and external R&D projects.
Provide engineering support to cross-functional development and process improvement teams.
Use engineering judgment/analysis to logically and systematically examine conditions to identify and analyze the probability, causes and consequences of potential and real failures under various circumstances.
Maintain records and document all potential liability issues facing the company related to products in the present, products from the past, or potential products in the future.
Work within, and properly maintain budget and expenditures on assigned projects.
Provide engineering assistance for selecting, commissioning and testing of capital equipment investment.
Conduct benchmark investigation on competitor products and processes.
Interact with design, marketing, and production personnel to address their future needs in order to maintain competitive edge in market place.
Direct and coordinate manufacturing of prototype product and processes to ensure rapid development and accurate manufacture of wheels.
Have regard for product and process and act so as to minimize variation in the process and damage to product and equipment.  Report any incidence of non conformance of product and process.
Observe and function within site quality systems (QS9000).

 

WHAT DO YOU NEED?
BS in engineering (Metallurgy and Materials) and 3+ years of related experience.
Counter Pressure Casting and Permanent Mold Casting.
Quality Control, Metallurgical testing, and wheel performance testing.
Design of experiments (DOE), Computer modeling and simulation (Thermal and Stress), and stress and strain measurement techniques.
Strong fluid dynamics and heat transfer knowledge
Finite Element and Solidification Analysis
Fracture and structural mechanics
Design, machining, coatings and computer science knowledge
Strong technical writing, communication, interpersonal, credibility, organization skill sets
Innovative and creative problem solving skills
