Job Description
REQUIREMENTS:

* Ph.D. in computational chemistry. Exceptional candidates from related fields such as theoretical physics, biology and computer science, with relevant chemistry expertise, also considered

* A proven intellectual ability and an outstanding scientific track record in the candidate's field of expertise

* Proven expertise in virtual screening and at least one of the following areas: design of combinatorial libraries, 2D and 3D similarity techniques, QSAR, data mining methods, pharmacophore elucidation; protein-ligand docking and scoring, statistical mechanics applied to biological systems, and computation of protein-ligand binding free energies

* Expertise in scientific programming (e.g., C, C++) and scripting (e.g., PERL, Python)

* Strong graduate performance and publication record

* Excellent oral and written communication skills and good presentation skills

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

* Contribute to an internationally coordinated effort aimed at developing a virtual screening technology platform that can be applied at all BI research sites and across all BI therapeutic areas

* Develop new methods to design and virtually screen targeted and target-class directed combinatorial libraries as well as libraries of existing compounds

* Develop new and improve existing virtual screening algorithms and software. Thoroughly evaluate new and existing virtual screening technologies

* Develop improved virtual screening procedures and protocols applicable at all BI research sites

* Maintain all appropriate notebook records of all studies and satisfy all normal lab SOP requirements

* Report to the CADD Supervisor
