Trojan Battery Company, the leading manufacturing company in Santa Fe Springs, has an exciting opportunity for a Market Research Analyst.  Come join our New Business Development department and work in our dynamic plant environment with an 80 year quality heritage leading the deep cycle battery industry.

 

As a Market Research Analyst you will  provide analysis of our various markets, including size, share and growth and researches competitors, market conditions, and changes in the industry that may affect sales.  This role requires a logical mind, strong organizational skills, a high level of curiosity and attention to detail, good judgment, strong interpersonal skills, strong communications/presentation skills, solid technical instincts and learning potential, and a proficiency in understanding the various elements which drive marketing programs and their creation.  Must be proficient in both primary and secondary market research techniques, statistical analysis, database creation and reporting, and various other analytical tools, and familiar with computer modeling techniques. You will also, communicate research findings to internal clients to ensure a clear understanding of the information, including correct interpretations and marketing implications.  This job also involves customer contact and other outside third party.

 



Here’s what is required:

- Should possess excellent problem solving skills that can be applied to business issues.

- Bachelor of Science: Marketing, Finance, Economics, or Business with a strong technical background or B2B experience

- Two to three years relevant work experience preferred.

- MBA desired but not required.

- Proficient in English.  Spanish language proficiency a plus.

- Excellent general math skills.

- Ability to analyze data pursues solutions and produce meaningful results.

- Advance knowledge of PC applications, databases, spreadsheets and pivot tables.

- Familiarity with database software required (Crystal Reports experience preferred), and ERP systems (BaaN experience preferred) and Microsoft Office applications.

- High level of natural curiosity.

- Leader orientation who can/will work effectively through others.

- High tolerance for ambiguity and ability to work with sometimes limited direction to meet research/information needs of the business.

- Strong interpersonal skills; highly empathetic and expressive.

- Solid technical instincts.

- Solid process and project management skills.

- Demonstrate success in developing solid recommendations and conclusions from market research and reports.

Here’s what you’ll do:

 

Product and Customer Analysis

- Analyzes monthly product line and customer sales performance to identify trends needing corrective action; drives ad hoc sales, product, and customer analysis reports.

- Evaluates and develops a strong working knowledge of competitive marketing programs for assigned product lines.  Maintains current competitive information regarding marketing programs, pricing and product specifications.

- Analyzes factors such as pricing, distribution, and product performance.

- Prepares charts and statistical data covering trends in product specifications, pricing and volume activity for assigned product lines.



Marketing & Sales support

- Monitor emerging consumer behavior and market trends through user tracking and behavioral profiling, qualitative and quantitative studies, and third party research.

- Analyzes and reports on effectiveness of the company’s website, including internet marketing and promotional efforts.

- Support the development of business plans and specifications for new products by analyzing consumer segments and reporting on the efficacy of advertising methods.

- Provides statistical reports and recommendations to management and assists with the development of plans for marketing.

- Works with marketing and sales team members to develop and complete National Account programs, lead list generation and qualification, maintain corresponding databases, and support other programs needed to sustain Trojan product distribution.

- Attends trade shows to assist on a technical basis, plus use such events for research purposes -- gather information on new markets, products and competition.

- Works with team members in support of current department and company goals.

 

Marketing Analysis & Research

- Develops detailed market segmentation analysis, including market size, share, growth by market application, technology, and geography.

- Conducts primary and secondary market research (surveys, purchased reports, focus groups) and analysis as appropriate for brand and business development activities as determined by the Market Managers.

- Analyzes survey results data, including frequencies, cross tabulations, means tables, multivariate analyses, and tests of statistical significance.

 

Industry Reporting

- Supports documentation of major industry trends and their impact upon company strategic planning.

- Prepares and submits monthly/annual reports (BCI, etc.)

- Follows quality system procedures.

- Other duties as assigned.
