Clinical Research Coordinator

Incumbent serves as the Clinical Research Coordinator and is responsible for diverse administrative and documentation responsibilities, which require sound judgement, decisiveness, and knowledge of the study protocols conducted by the Henry M. Jackson Foundation HIV Research Clinic, Infectious Disease Special Immunology Clinic at the National Naval Medical Center (NNMC).  The duties include clinical data collection and verification, recruitment to assure protocol adherence and conduct research to comply with FDA regulations, Good Clinical Practice Standards and Institutional Review Board requirements. Prepares schedule of events for patients and verifies their transportation, accommodations, and travel reimbursements. Notifies patients of itinerary and protocol requirements; documents and reschedules missed appointments. Interviews patients to collect data, such as medical and medication history, previous infections, other diseases, activities of daily living, health practices and beliefs, and psychosocial status. Teaches patients and conducts counseling sessions regarding infection control practices as related to their daily living habits. Receives and screens inquiries from other health care providers regarding research volunteers.  Provides answers or refers inquiries to other appropriate health care providers. Functions as research case manager, coordinating with other health care providers as necessary. Consults with Naval staff on personnel administration, standards of clinical practice, quality assurance, safety, education and research issues. Will have knowledgeable of research principles and procedures, including: data collection, documentation, organization, tabulation, and written or oral presentation of the data.

Minimum Education/Training Requirements: Bachelors degree.

Minimum Experience: 2-4 years of clinical research experience.
