Skills:Must have working knowledge of purchasing systems, procedures, material standards and specifications 3+ Years Purchasing experience, Wiring harness experience is a MUST Bilingual – Spanish & English preferred Familiar with electronic and mechanical components Understands ECN (Engineering Change notice) process Strong Negotiating Skills Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of management, key personnel and suppliers Experience creating Purchasing structure including developing and implementing Purchasing policies and Procedures Must understand materials requirements (MRP) Experience with Supplier Quality and Validation Experience analyzing vendor bids or proposals Knowledge of Quality Systems – QS9000 and/or TS16949 Excellent communicator, must have the ability to communicate well with customer and Suppliers/Vendors Must be flexible and be able to handle a sometimes fast-paced, stressful, changing environment Project Management experience Strategic thinker Attention to detail and ability to multi-task a must  Previous experience as a buyer / purchaser for a mid-size manufacturing organization a plus Experience working for a Maquiladora a plus B.S. in Business, Supply Chain Management, or equivalent combination of education and experience

 

Responsibilities:Responsible for Supplier selection, pricing, negotiating, Minimum Order quantity and Logistics Delivery, etc. Preparing and negotiating material and service contracts with suppliers Negotiating pricing reduction, concessions, rebate from vendors, etc. Organizing cost reduction activities with engineering and production Preparing, disseminating and reviewing price and delivery inquiries to qualified manufacturers and suppliers Coordinating procurement activities between operating areas and suppliers on major projects Performing planning activities to procure material on a timely basis, at the most optimum supply chain cost Issuing Purchase Orders and Service Agreements in accordance with company’s policies and procedures Participating in Project Develop meetings; & has the ability to lead the meetings and subsequently Project Manage the follow-up items established in the meetings Interfacing with Procurement, Engineering and Quality departments Developing and maintaining reliable sources of suppliers Maintaining supplier database regarding supplier location, pricing delivery history and make recommendations Reviewing overall supplier activity and performance to assure contract compliance Recommending or approving bid awards Developing and presenting reports of purchasing activities and costs Developing relationships with vendors Some travel to vendor sites Assisting in the development and implementation of Purchasing methods and procedures, and then monitoring the process to assure that all purchases are in accordance with company policy and procedures
