WildBlue Communications delivers affordable high-speed internet access via satellite to our customer’s homes and offices in the contiguous U.S. Our affordable, high-speed (3.0 megabit per second) internet connection can accommodate up to eight PC's (or other internet-ready appliances) simultaneously. Our team is rapidly growing and we are in search of a Purchasing Manager.

 

SUMMARY:

We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead WildBlue’s supply chain management and inventory/asset control.  Under moderate supervision, procure telecommunication commodity components, systems and higher-level assemblies, including items of a complex and technical nature. Items to be procured may range from connectors to RF/electrical laboratory test stations as well as, general office support merchandise.  Provide asset control, shipping and receiving of infrastructure equipment.  Develop the WildBlue procurement business systems, purchasing policies and procedures to carry out specific commodity purchasing practices and material planning.   Position reports to VP Infrastructure, but will provide company-wide procurement services for infrastructure, technical operations, business operations, engineering, marketing and corporate.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

 

Coordinate WB-internal procurement requirements to execute and administer purchase orders.  Solicit, negotiate, procure and accept items.  Provide exceptional internal customer service to the technical operations, network operations center, engineering laboratory and customer premise equipment program managers.

 

Execute tactical commodity purchasing plans, including financial analysis and modeling, to ensure competitive costs from contracted manufacturers and other suppliers.  Understand related material, labor and overhead cost information.

 

Participate in strategic agreement development, including pricing contracts, make vs. buy decisions, bid development, manufacturer qualifications and quality requirements, quote evaluation, lead time and cost reduction.

 

Manage inventory levels to meet targets developed for specific products or commodities.  Participate with the contract supplier base in the development of cost improvement targets by commodity/supplier and adhere to this plan.

 

Provide management and accountability for infrastructure (Gateway) equipment asset inventory tracking and issues resolution.  Perform inventory transactions required to receive, ship and track equipment.  Ensure documentation, including invoices, equipment numbers, status and timelines are accurately maintained.

 

Ensure and manage proper disassembling of equipment, packing of equipment; lifting and loading equipment for shipments and onto trucks, as well as purchasing needed equipment / supplies for Gateways.  Prepare documentation and database entries for tracking inventory and asset management.  Maintain inventory and fulfillment reports.

 

Coordinate specific administrative tasks within the department to meet organizational objectives.

 

Develop the WB procurement organization including defining the structure, policies and procedures.  Position currently manages one direct report.

 

Perform other duties as assigned.

Strong working/industry knowledge of supply chain management, materials management and inventory/asset control; Minimum 3-5 years experience

 

Strong leadership and organizational abilities, demonstrated through related work experience.  Ability to handle multiple and disparate procurements simultaneously.

Excellent communication skills.

Outstanding negotiation, decision making, influence, leadership and conflict resolution skills.

 

Ability to work cooperatively with all levels of management and persons of differing skill sets.

 

Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

 

Additional Qualifications

· Knowledge of and experience with telecommunications products;  Cable, DSL, satellite or computer industries

· Project Management and organizational skills

· Proficiency in supply chain purchasing software, Microsoft Office and Internet Explorer

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

 

Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience preferred
