Product Manager

SUMMARY

The primary responsibilities of the Product Manager are to contribute to the success of Hampton-Brown products by participating in all aspects of market research, planning and developing marketing plans for assigned products and/or product lines, and implementing appropriate strategies to achieve measurable goals.

The Product Manager provides sales training and customer service for one or more Hampton-Brown products or product lines.  The Product Manager is expected to have a comprehensive understanding of the content and strategies of the Hampton-Brown product(s) for which s/he is responsible, as well as knowledge of current curricular trends and marketing practices.  Key attributes include flexibility, attention to detail, organization, creativity, product knowledge, and interpersonal effectiveness.

 MARKET RESEARCH

Works closely with the Director of Product Management, the Vice President of Sales and Marketing, the Publisher, and project managers in all phases of market research including the determination of market, knowledge of curricular trends and practices, competitive studies, field testing of new product, and product pricing.

Plans and conducts, focus groups, surveys, etc., to gather input regarding market trends and needs to inform future product development, and to solicit feedback on existing products to inform development/revision of sales story in the marketplace.

Summarizes and assists in the analysis of feedback from customers and focus groups regarding product strengths and weaknesses.

 TRAINING AND PRESENTATIONS

Makes professional product presentations at conferences, exhibits, and conventions.

Assists in planning and implementation of the Hampton-Brown National Sales Conference, including preparation of session content, handouts, visuals, and delivery, etc. for training of sales representatives on new and or existing product. 

Evaluates feedback from attendees relative to workshop, invitational or special presentations content and Hampton-Brown product strengths and weaknesses, and makes recommendations for adjustments to session content.

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s Degree (B.A.) from four year college or university; and 5-10 years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have background/knowledge in the area of middle and high school literacy development.
