Summary
Trainers provide instructional support on a variety of non-intrusive inspection equipment to the National Enforcement Equipment and Repair (NEEMR) program for Customs personnel. Trainers will be expected to develop training materials using the Instructional System Design (ISD) model.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
oInstruct on a variety of non-intrusive inspection equipment to include x-ray and gamma imaging systems, vapor tracers, radiation detection and identification, density gauges, etc.
oSupport and assist other team members with training materials preparation and classroom delivery preparations.
oAssist with research, curriculum development and revisions, and needs assessments.
oPerform other ad hoc tasking and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and/or Experience
oBachelor's degree in training and development or related field. Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
o2+ years experience directly related hands-on adult training experience.
oMust be able to assimilate new material quickly and work effectively in the field individually or as part of a team.
oMust be able to make sound and reasonable decisions, have good customer service skills, and able to adapt to changing work environments and schedules.
oPrevious experience must include facilitating various technical training courses.
oKnowledge of training methodologies including the application of training principles, concepts, practices, and standards is critical

Software Knowledge
oMicrosoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint at intermediate level.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
oMust be able to obtain a Treasury Background Investigation
oValid driver's license
oOn the job training: 8-hour Radiation Safety class, 40-hour Radiation Safety Officer training, DOT & NRC Requirements for Shipping and Receiving Radioactive Materials class, 16-hour Radiation Safety Officer.

Work Environment
o50-60% travel is required.
oCourse length is typically 1-5 days.
oCourses are taught at US Ports across US and Canada.
oCourses consist of both classroom and hands-on training so a significant portion of time may be spent outdoors in uncontrolled environment.
