Description


Von's, a Safeway company, has an opening for IT SW DESIGNER/ARCHITECT, located in Arcadia, CA.


Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

Responsible for detailed system design and conformance to enterprise architecture standards principles and patterns.
Develop/ realize detail designs from Use Cases, produce Design Classes and Test Packages.
Resolve or contribute to the resolution of technical project issues.
May perform various roles on each project including but not limited to: Configuration Manager, Deployment Manager and Tester.
Must earn and maintain the respect of fellow team members.
Must be able to make sound decisions under pressure, adhere to standards and maintain project focus.

 Required Skills


Qualifications: The following are preferred or desired unless specifically stated:

Bachelor degree in Information Systems, Computer Science or related field.
Minimum 2 years experience in application design and development.
Domain experience in Grocery industry highly desirable.
Knowledge of at least one Relational Database Management System, Unix and Shell Scripting
Experience designing and developing application solutions using J2EE frameworks.
Experience designing and developing application solutions using IBM’s Websphere (WAS 5.1/6.0) product suite.
Working knowledge of the following: software design techniques including object-oriented design techniques, Unified Modeling Language (UML), Service Oriented Architectures
Knowledge of the Rational Unified Process (RUP) methodology
Working knowledge of the following is a plus:
Modeling tools e.g. Rational Rose, RSA
Configuration Management Tools such as ChangeMan DS, Eclipse
Experience integrating applications across diverse technical platforms.
Flexibility and ability to work collaboratively with remote team members.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Good problem solving ability
