Position:  Program Director, Emergency System of Advance Registration for Volunteer Health Professionals

 

 

Background:

This program is part of a county-wide planning effort aimed at developing systems to pre-qualify and deploy health volunteers to provide surge capacity for critical health services following a terrorist attack, disaster, or other public health emergency.

 

General Duties:

The Program Director will work with the Los Angeles Department of Health Services, Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Agency and Public Health BT program to do the following:Develop a written County-wide targeted recruitment/marketing plan for LA County Develop and deliver outreach/volunteer recruitment presentations for potential volunteersDevelop a system/interview format to conduct, in-person interviews with potential volunteers Provide training opportunities for affiliated Volunteer Center programs to prepare their staff to assist with volunteer recruiting, deployment, and staging area tasksAssist in the development of a deployment plan that will include the set up of staging areas to process and deploy volunteers and spontaneous medical volunteers Ability to deploy to staging areas to process and deploy medical volunteers and manage staff and volunteers to provide 24 hours staffing for up to eight volunteer staging area sites, for a minimum of two weeksDevelop a volunteer recognition and retention strategy for the volunteer program Supervise program coordinators

 

Qualifications:BA degree with 1-2 years emergency response experience preferred Computer literate:  Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) Knowledge of database management Excellent organizational and communications skills Strong Leadership skills and able to handle multiple tasks
