Pre-School Teacher (Day Treatment Specialist)
The Help Group is the largest, most innovative and comprehensive nonprofit organization in the United States serving children with special needs related to autism, Asperger's disorder, learning disabilities, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, mental retardation, abuse and emotional problems.
The Stepping Stone program focuses on the whole child, integrating all developmental areas. Each child's treatment plan is individualized to meet his or her specific areas of need. Activities are designed to address individual goals, including social competence, coping strategies, pre-academic skills and classroom functioning.
We are looking for a creative and dynamic Pre-School Teacher who has a good deal of experience working with pre-school aged children to join our wonderfully exciting program!
QUALIFICATIONS:
*Minimum BA or BS degree from an accredited program in psychology, counseling, social work or related field.
*One year experience specific to emotionally disturbed children and one year experience working in a day treatment setting.
*Being Bilingual in Spanish is a HUGE plus!
*Must have experience working with pre-school age children.
*Valid California driver's license.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
*Assist in developing and conducting children's day treatment program activities.
*Provide ongoing supervision of children participating in the day treatment activities.
*Participate in individualized goal setting and case planning for participants.
*Transport children in Agency van to and from the program.
*Interface with families, schools and other community liaisons.
*Complete all charting and paperwork assigned and ensure that paperwork deadlines are met.
