COMPUTER LAB INSTRUCTOR

 

Under the general supervision of the Education Manager, the Computer Lab Instructor provides valuable computer instruction and training to “at risk” youth at KCYC.  Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

 

·  GENERAL FUNCTION:  The Computer Instructor enables KCYC youth to learn vital computer skills that can be used to complete homework assignments, complete a master employment application, develop a resume, take career planning assessments, and search for job opportunities using the internet. The Computer Instructor works with children ages 6-12 Mondays and Fridays 2pm to 5pm and youth 12-18 5:30pm-8:30pm. 

·  RESPONSIBILITIES: Develops monthly plan and curriculum for the computer lab instruction.  Works cooperatively with the Education manager and Art Program manager to maximize use of computers in their respective programs.

·  Assists children and youth with homework assignments using computers.  Instructs KCYC participants in the basic use of computers in order to increase their knowledge and skills.

·  Instructs children ages 6-12 the ttools for creating documents such as word processing, spreadsheet, database, draw/paint, and power point presentations.

·   Instructs youth ages 13-18 more advance computer skills using Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, Power Point, and Publisher, Access), Photoshop, Adobe, etc.  1) how to complete a master employment application; 2) how to create resume; 3) how to conduct a job search using the internet; and 4) how to take career assessment tests using the internet. Measure: Each youth has a complete master employment application and resume and has successfully completed a career assessment test using the internet. Maintains accurate records on usage of the Computer Lab in order to meet agency and contract requirements. Ensures that the Computer Lab equipment and other related equipment is properly maintained. Performs other duties as necessary.

·  Assist in the collection, organization, storage, and reporting of student records and statistics needed for monthly, quarterly, etc. reports.

·  Perform other related duties as needed

·  EDUCATION/REQUIREMENTS: Must have experience working with youth in classroom or computer lab settings.  Should have advanced knowledge of PC computers and Microsoft Office Software (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Publisher).  Must have excellent communication skills. Must be able to work with people from diverse backgrounds.  Must have skill in training and supervising youth. Must have ability to handle multiple tasks with little or no supervision.

 



Bilingual English/Spanish candidate is preferred.  BA preferred. IT or Computer Instruction experience is preferred. Afternoon and evening hours. Salary range: $34,000 to $38,000 commensurate with qualifications/ experience. Excellent benefits: health, dental, life insurance/pension, equal opportunity employer.
