Behavioral Interventionist

LOS ANGELES CHILD GUIDANCE CLINIC is a non-profit, community-based mental health clinic with over an 80-year history of service to the children of Central and South Central Los Angeles.  We have an immediate opening for  1 Full Time & 1 Full Time, Temporary bilingual Spanish Speaking Home Interventionists to provide Early Intervention services in an infant mental health project.  This position is based out of the Clinic’s University Park location site.

 

The Home Interventionist will work primarily in family/caregiver homes as a member of a multi-disciplinary team providing therapeutic services and education with children ages zero to approximately three years and their families/caregivers. The Home Interventionist will: provide caregiver training & support in caregiver homes, may assist families/caregivers in building social networks and facilitating Mommy/Daddy & Me classes, research and inform clients of other available resources, coordinate step-down services, participate in staff and other meetings, gather and collate data for the program, collaborate and cooperate with outside child protective or family services workers assigned to children and their families; advocate for parents and children when making outside referrals for services, facilitate attachment and other developmental issues, as well as perform other, similar paraprofessional duties.

 

The position requires a minimum of a BA/BS degree in developmental psychology, psychology, child development or a related field.  Knowledge of usual 0-3 development, developmental disabilities, broad general knowledge of the social dynamics and economics of low-income urban communities and the ability to timely complete accurate paperwork are required. Bilingual/biliterate Spanish ability is preferred.  A valid CA driver license, an insurable driving record, and reliable transportation are required.  In keeping with Clinic policy for all employees, the successful applicants must also complete a test for TB and fingerprint clearance by the US Department of Justice.

 

This position is placed on the Clinic’s Non-Management Salary Plan, approximately $16 per hour start, plus a $ 2500 bilingual Spanish speaking differential. Included is a generous flexible benefits package with a choice of medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, a program of sick, vacation and holiday pay, access to the USC Credit Union, and 2 pension/retirement savings plans.
