RELIABILITY ENGINEER -- Chemical Facility

Our client, a major bulk chemical manufacturer, is searching for a RELIABILITY ENGINEER to develop and implement programs to achieve significant and continuous improvement in plant equipment reliability.  The ideal candidate has a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering and proven experience as a chemical plant reliability engineer.  The person must be experienced at using tools of reliability engineering, such as failure analysis, root cause analysis, predictive maintenance, and life cycle cost analysis.  In addition, a background working in plants regulated by OSHA Process Safety Management (PSM) is important.  The position is located near Mobile, Alabama. 

 

Responsibilities:

The main focus of the Reliability Engineer is to ensure a robust mechanical integrity program and champion the use of reliability-centered manufacturing.



This position will provide engineering services to continuously improve and optimize the use of mechanical systems and equipment, as well as the work practices used in maintaining that equipment.  All efforts in this arena should be focused on improving long-term reliability and preserving the safety of those operating and maintaining the equipment.  Activities will also include maintaining the mechanical integrity of mechanical systems and equipment while generating and implementing modifications that will result in a reduction of equipment repair costs and improve the service factor of the operating unit.  Individual will be responsible for overseeing the vibration program, preventative maintenance program, precision maintenance effort, and scheduling and coordination of major outages in the facility.



 





Requirements:


B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
Minimum 7-10 years experience in similar position within a chemical manufacturing plant
Rotating equipment and mechanical seals experience
Category 3, Vibration analyst (Certified through the Vibration Institute)
Strong leadership and teamwork skills
Experience scheduling and planning annual turn-arounds
Precision maintenance experience
Experience in maintaining 1910.119 Mechanical Integrity Requirements
Rotating equipment troubleshooting skills
Identification of rotating equipment modes of failure
Preventative maintenance system – General up-keep and oversight of the program
Sound problem solving skills
Effective communication skills
Proficient computer skills
Experienced in OSHA’s Process Safety Management (PSM) practices
Familiar with SAP Maintenance and Purchasing modules
Possess project management skills (to execute capital investment and expense projects)
Ability to work with all levels of plant personnel from hourly workers through upper management
Experience in utilizing mean time between failure techniques
Experience in utilizing equipment root cause analysis techniques
