DRAFTSMEN/WOMEN & DESIGNERS

 

The Austal Group, world leaders in the design and manufacture of aluminum fast ferries, cruise boats, luxury yachts and military vessels, are pleased to offer exciting opportunities for motivated designers to join the Design Department. These opportunities may include the opportunity to travel to Austal’s Australian facility for periods of approximately 12 months.  This position will be located in the Austal facility in Mobile, Alabama.

 

Qualified applicants should:Have a thorough understanding of vessel design, in any or all of the following areas. Structure, HVAC, wireways and mechanical systems and equipment.Have a minimum of 2 years in ship design and construction experience, including practical knowledge of shipyard construction methods and details.Have an understanding of scheduling and an ability to adhere to strict deadlines and budgetary restraintsHave excellent written and oral communication skills.Have experience involving interaction with Production, multiple design teams from several companies and client representation.Possess a sound knowledge of AutoCAD 2006 or later.Possess a sound knowledge of Ship Constructor or similar software.Being experienced in the construction of high speed aluminum vessels would be advantageous.

 

Experience in the design or construction of US Navy vessels would be preferred.
