Legal Assistant II - Compliance

Job Description: * Description The Baker Hughes Incorporated Legal Department has an opening for a Compliance Legal Assistant located at 2929 Allen Pkwy, Houston, Texas.


* EducationHigh School Diploma or equivalent. Graduate of an accredited paralegal program with 5+ years of paralegal experience. International legal experience a plus.


* KnowledgeExcellent PC skills. Experience in use of legal management systems. Self-starter, motivated, flexible and able to work without supervision. Excellent written and verbal communications skills.


* ResponsibilitiesProvides direct support to the Chief Compliance Officer, Ethics & Compliance Director, Investigative Legal Counsel and Senior Compliance Counsel. Specific duties include the following:
Assist the Ethics & Compliance Director and Senior Compliance Counsel in the development, implementation, management and enhancement of the processes in place for the Business Help Line and Code of Conduct Questionnaire
Accept, manage and report on incoming calls to the BHI Business Help Line
Gather preliminary information and, when possible, perform initial investigation on all matters reported to Business Help Line or through other means
Investigate Code of Conduct and Business Help Line matters and present findings to appropriate supervising counsel for further guidance, final determination, and file closure
Create, maintain, and manage Code of Conduct Questionnaire tracking system, which is used to assign and manage in excess of 140,000 responses from over 8,300 employees
Manage Devesys database on all matters reported to the Ethics and Compliance Team through the BHI Business Help Line or through other means
Assist the Ethics & Compliance Director in creating and reporting metrics from the Business Help Line, Code of Conduct Questionnaire and Ethics & Compliance Program generally
Assist the Chief Compliance Officer and Ethics & Compliance Director in creating summary reports for senior management and the Audit Ethics Committee on matters received through BHI's Business Help Line and other means
Assist the Chief Compliance Officer and Ethics & Compliance Director with the development of a compliance risk assessment program
