Communications Manager
Communications Manager The Microsoft Immigration Group (MIG) provides worldwide immigration benefits and assures global immigration law compliance for Microsoft, all of its subsidiaries, employees and family dependents.
MIG is housed within Law & Corporate Affairs (LCA), is looking for a highly talented Communications Manager who is passionate about communicating on immigration law topics and themes, and strives for excellence. The Communications Manager within MIG will be responsible for driving internal and external immigration-related communications and thereby helping to achieve MIG’s business mission of supporting and facilitating international people migrations for MS and its subsidiaries.
Duties
The Communications Manager will be responsible to:
Help MIG to communicate to its global clients by preparing and providing timely, complete, easily-understood and accurate information on current immigration procedure, policy and law;
Collaborate with MIG’s management team to help define the group’s strategic direction through improved communications;
Ghostwrite or co-author immigration-related articles and speeches for MIG’s, LCA’s and Microsoft’s management;
Collaborate with MIG, Microsoft Government Affairs, Public Relations and Recruiting on legislative and public affairs advocacy and immigration brand enhancement;
Prepare and present PowerPoint slide decks on immigration-related topics for MIG and LCA at internal (in-person or web-based) conferences and client “open house” gatherings, and at public meetings;
Collaborate with relevant peer groups to identify and optimize communications functions, discern significant trends and help MIG manage change through improved communications;
Work with internal and external teams of immigration professionals to determine root causes on significant incidents and use effective communications to help drive any identified problems to resolution;
Serve as a point of contact for technical teams regarding communications issues and provide input and feedback regarding communications of technical and business elements of MIG’s strategic plans;
Collaborate with MIG’s Director of Global Migration and Operations Manager to refine and disseminate internal and external immigration messaging;
Help ensure the successful updating and expansion of Microsoft’s immigration intranet strategies as new developments in immigration law, policy and process arise;
Provide expertise for electronic media, establishing metrics, and benchmarking best practices in electronic media usage with other companies;
Collaborate in the design and requirements for an electronic knowledge management tool for recycling of work product in connection with immigration compliance duties and benefits procurement;
Work with Develop global standards to establish a unified migration communication platform worldwide with support from technical, design and communications professionals; and
Define communications best practices ;
Define and drive communications improvement projects;
Requirements
Strong background in immigration law required;
Bachelor's degree in Communications, English, Journalism, related media field required; Juris Doctorate degree preferred;
4 years of progressively responsible work experience preferably in a role utilizing the Web for communications;
Solid writing, editing, organizational, and project management skills; Strong public speaking and interpersonal communication skills;
