WEB PRODUCER/PROGRAMMER

Position Title: WEB PRODUCER/PROGRAMMER
Department: Production
Reports to: Production Director

Coordinates with: Marketing Director, Web Application Developer, Art
Director, Copy Editors, Editors, Customer Service, IT

Primary Purpose: Development of Web applications to support the
administrative/marketing needs of Evan-Moor Educational Publishers.
Duties include system analysis, development, testing,
deployment, training, support, and maintenance.

Key Areas of Responsibility
* Work with appropriate department to gain an understanding of project
requirements and to develop specifications for project scope.
* Provide specifications and cost analysis on requested projects as
needed and make recommendations on time line for development.
* Code Web applications in compliance with standards using appropriate
technologies and languages.
* Perform thorough testing to ensure correct function of application.
* Deploy project to production environment.
* Document applications according to department standards to provide
other developer with the information to understand the program
structure, logic, and changes.
* Review log files to identify errors and anomalies, recommend
solutions, and implement recommendations.
* Troubleshoot and resolve production application problems. Coordinate
problem fixes.
* Maintain existing applications as necessary to ensure data
integrity, standards compliance, and information relevance.
* Develop in-depth technical knowledge about the software tools and
techniques appropriate to Evan-Moor’s development environment.
* Read books, periodicals, Internet articles, and listserv discussions
to improve understanding of existing and new information technologies.

Skills and Attributes
* Experience with C++ and C#; Visual Studio 2003/2005; object-oriented
techniques; writing XHTML; using CSS for page layout; writing MySQL
queries; designing relational database tables, views, and
relationships; XML; ASP.NET
* Familiarity with IIS management; Web Accessibility standards;
version control systems.
* Effective oral, listening, and written communication skills.
* Ability to handle multiple assignments simultaneously.
* Ability to work independently and complete assignments by due dates.
* Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
* Ability to work a 40-hour workweek, 5 days a week.

Qualifications Required:
* A minimum of 3 years of full-time professional development
experience writing Web applications using ASP.NET is required.

Qualifications Preferred:
* A computer science or related degree is preferred but not required.
