PHP/Web Developer

Our rapidly expanding e-commerce division is looking to hire a highly-motivated experienced client-side Web Developer with a passion for the Internet, e-commerce and marketing. Our environment is Debian / PostgreSQL / Apache. Our core application is written in SQL/PLPGSQL/PHP, with supporting applications in Perl. Candidate should have demonstrated experience in this type of environment, ideally in an E-Commerce setting. General system administration knowledge strongly desired.
The ideal candidate enjoys all aspects of front-end development and is also very comfortable optimizing a web page for speed and usability for all browsers. Experience should include interfacing front-end web pages to databases. S/he should have 3-7 years experience in PHP (PHP5 a plus) as well as web coding in a production environment. Demonstrated expertise is CSS and HTML is necessary. At least 2 years working in a Linux/Unix environment in required. Candidate must have working knowledge of OOP with a demonstrated experience of applying OOP techniques to solve problems. Experience working with multiple RDBMS platforms, as well as working knowledge in any of the following would be helpful: Perl, Python, Postfix, CSS, Ajax, Javascript, XML/XSLT, C/C++, Java, .NET. Candidate should have a good understanding of the latest trends in web development like AJAX, and especially web standards.
