In the Commercial Insurance Specialty within the underwriting center we currently underwrite $78.7 million in premium/3502 customers/9773 policies. Our current staffing model shows that a CIS underwriter has the capacity to underwrite $5.5 million in premium/250 customers/700 policies. Based on the above numbers we would need 14 positions. Replacing this position will allow us to maintain 14 positions including the CCI practice leader for the WUC. The vacant position handled a sophisticated book of Los Angeles produced business which exceeded the averages outlined above. The vacant position handled a book of $7.2 million 252 customers and 768 policies. Re-justification of this job will enable us to continue operate the CIS unit in the WUC as planned into 2007. In addition as capacity is created via streamlined renewal operations, the Western Zone has asked us to take on additional business from the branches including more underwriting intensive accounts. In order to facilitate this process it is critical that the vacant position be filled.
