Position Overview
Senior Software Engineer: 
•Software development experience with ARMS or AFORMS (previous name) highly desired

 

Essential Functions: 
•Perform and provide the results of studies requested by the program manager
•Analyze requirements furnished by the program office staff and provide results of analysis
•Design, code, and test recommended optimum approaches.
•Other facets of software factory ARMS related work as directed by the program
•Top-level technical expert in the following areas:
•Analysis, design, code and test of new requirements.
•Maintenance of the existing software. 
•Providing technical analyses of new technologies and recommending optimum approaches for maintenance and development


Technical Skills:

Required Skills:  
•Software Development Skills
•Extensive knowledge of the following: 
•Analysis skills (use case elaboration)
•J2EE technologies  including proven architecture strategies, web services, and best-practices

 

Additional Experience Required
•Proven experience coding in the Java language, and a working knowledge of life-cycle development tools (ie: Merant PVCS, Telelogic DOORS, Rational Rose, etc)
•Knowledgeable of Oracle database structure; database theory and design; Relational Online Analytical Processing (ROLAP) and Multidimensional Relational Online Analytical Processing (MOLAP). 
•Provide object-oriented analysis and design to include Unified Modeling Language (UML) design and rapid prototyping for system proof of concept and subsequent full development.

 

Desired Skills: 
Functional Expertise. 
Software development experience with ARMS or AFORMS (previous name) to enable development of a user-friendly, robust system.
•Experience with robust Systems Engineering Processes
•Experience with DoD automated information systems

 

Required Education:

Bachelor’s degree in computer science/software engineering, or related technical discipline from, an accredited university is required.
Master’s degree in computer science/software engineering or related technical discipline from an accredited university may be considered the equivalent of two years of general expertise.

 

Required Experience:
A minimum of seven years of general experience (or 5 years with a qualifying master’s degree) which includes four years specialized experience in performing studies, analyzing requirements, and recommending optimum approaches is required.
One year of this specialized experience must be in developing systems designs in an open systems architecture utilizing object oriented design methodology. 

 

The individual shall be:
(1)Highly knowledgeable of government regulations, manuals, technical orders, standards, and industry publications related to computer systems development;
(2)Knowledgeable of and trained in using CASE tools, SQL, prototyping, and third/fourth generation languages in the design of software systems;
(3)Knowledgeable of applicable industry open and government standards related to web services (e.g., SOAP, UDDI, XML) and UNIX, Windows, J2EE, and Oracle-based systems; and
(4)Knowledgeable in software reuse and be responsible for identifying reuse opportunities with and across projects, building generic domain models and architectures.
