Network Technician - ITS3
The Network Technician is a member of the Enterprise Services team within the IT department and reports directly to the Director of Technical Services. This position will assist the Network Engineer in maintaining the college wide LAN/WAN. Including network infrastructure, firewalls, routers, switches, backup recovery processes, problem identification, resolution & troubleshooting, hardware and software acquisitions General requirements : Previous job experience required is a minimum of three (3) years as a Network Technician. Experience should include the use of a wide range of networking equipment, including knowledge and skills relating to switches, routers, firewalls, and wireless devices, etc.
Have experience with most LAN and WAN architectures including Ethernet, Spanning Tree, QOS, VLANs, and Point-to-Point T1 circuits.
Understand routing protocols like OSPF, HSRP, and network based ACL’s.
Experience with network management platforms and protocols such as SNMP, RMON and MRTG.
Experience with Enterprise Network Security – IDS, VPNs, SSL, Proxy servers, F5 and Firewalls (PIX & ASA).
Ability to utilize industry standard network protocols: HTTP, FTP, TCP/I, 802.1X, 802.11, 802.3ad in the maintenance of a large scale enterprise network.
Ability to successfully manage multiple projects and responsibilities at the same time. Able to deal with changing priorities.
