Research Associate

The USC Keck School Of Medicine is seeking a Research Associate to join its team.

The successful candidate is expected to have 2-3 years of experience using confocal and/or multiphoton laser scanning fluorescence microscopy of living biological samples. Knowledge and expertise in the basic fluorescence applications is a must, including time-lapse, line-scan, sequential scanning, volume rendering(3D), Fluorescence recovery after photo bleaching(FRAP), fluorescence energy resonance transfer fluorescence lifetime measurement. The candidate must have basic knowledge in systems biology, physiology, cell biology and experience working with living cells, tissues, organs, and whole animals. It is expected that the candidate will acquire additional training in the Peti-Peterdi lab for the Core services to be provided.

Plans, designs and conducts highly technical and complex research projects independently and in consultation with supervisor.

Identifies, researches, compiles and evaluates data sources, background information and/or technology related to area of specialization.

Analyzes and evaluates research data utilizing computers and provides interpretations requiring significant knowledge of a specialized area of research. Searches literature, utilizing all available resources including electronic, regarding new methodology and designs experiments accordingly.

Contributes to the development of research documentation for publication and/or prepares technical reports, papers and/or records.

Minimum Qualifications:

Ph.d. or equivalent with minimum 1 year of experience. Directly related education and experience in research specialization with advanced knowledge of equipment, procedures and analysis methods.
