Job Description:
The Director of Mental Health services reports to the VP of Nursing and directs the operation of two inpatient psychiatric units.
Qualified candidates will be an individual who has demonstrated success in this setting. As well as displayed excellent knowledge strong leadership ability, and

effective communication skills.

 

Qualifications:
Knowledge of  applicable state and federal agencies and laws, and knowledge of sources available to interpret such laws.
Knowledge of the practical workings of a psychiatric/mental health unit/department as generally acquired through at least two (2) years of experience in a formalized psychiatric/mental health work setting and three years management experience.
Knowledge of appropriate management practices and organizational behavior.
Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of California.
Biannual CPR certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support.
Restraint Certification within 6 months of hire date recertification annually.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Certification within 6 months of hire date; recertication annually.
Designation to write involuntary detentions (5150s) after initation period; redesignation every 2 yeasrs according to the County of Los Angeles Department of Mental Health rules/standards.
Certification as a Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse by the American Nurses’ Credentialing Center is preferred.

 

Education Preferences:
Baccalaureate degree in nursing or a related field is preferred.
Bachlors Degree
