Sr. Packaging Engineer

Attention: Sr. Packaging Engineers! We currently have an opportunity for a Sr. Packaging Engineer to join our Client's company, a leader in the medical device industry.  This position will provide leadership in the design, development and implementation of cost effective packaging for all of our Clients lines of products.  Work with approved suppliers to improve and optimize packaging design and processes. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Define, develop, lead and implement packaging for all line of products for all business units and participate to product development teams for this task.  New designs must meet our Client’s product design requirements including labeling and sterilization.
Work with suppliers on existing products to optimize packaging design and processes, document and validate changes under our Client’s quality system.
Provide leadership by aligning all packaging activity to the Company Business priorities and be the focal point in implementing changes under our quality system. 
Leading cross-functional teams.
Take ownership in all aspects of packaging design, processes, field issues, supplier communication, testing of new packaging designs, and labeling of packaged products
Help and coordinate implementation and procurement of new packaging materials in our manufacturing facility.
Work with QA staff to assure cost effective sterilization by optimizing packaging dimensions.
Write validation and other test protocols for approval of new packaging materials and designs
Implement and monitor proper packaging test requirements to meet appropriate standard requirements that will provide products to our customers without any shipping damage
Evaluate and recommend process improvements for packaging methods, including some automation and/ or material handling improvements, in our manufacturing facilities
May work on other projects as assigned by the supervisor.  This may require understanding the general scope of work and create detail action plan and implement action items.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Requires a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Bio-Engineering, Physics, Chem., or equivalent work experience (Packaging preferred.) 
At least 4 years of experience in packaging design for a medical device company.
Requires good written and verbal English communication skills.
Needs to be able to apprehend and solve multiple problems with coherent logical approach.
Knowledge of PC's MS-Word, Excel, Project, Project Management are also required.
Technical skills involving design, assembly and test of packaging materials and other industrial.
Ability to multitask.
