INSTRUMENT TECH II

The Instrument Tech II will be responsible for the decontamination and sterilization of surgical instruments and surgical trays. Instrument Techs perform arithmetic computations in determining the amount of supplies needed, issued and returned while also using their knowledge of the principles of aseptic technique. Therefore, applicants must be detailed orientated, have the ability to speak and correspond in English, and able to follow the exact procedures for every assignment. Additional duties will include monitoring, testing, and recording sterilization data from the various methods SPD employs to achieve sterilization.

Position includes rotating weekend (day shift) scheduling, stand-by, and call back.

To be qualified, you must possess a High School diploma or equivalent and twelve (12) months of experience in a central service or sterile processing department which includes indepth knowledge of surgical instruments and sterilization procedures. You must also have a current certification from one of the follwing organizations to be hired as a Tech II: International Association Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM) or American Society for Healthcare Central Service Professionals (ASHCSP). Applicants without the certification will be hired as a Tech I.
