HIMS Technician - Document Imaging Tech

Overview : This position is responsible for the maintenance and preservation of confidential health records for the facility by analyzing medical records for quantitative and qualitative completion based on the facility's medical staff rules and regulations, and BH policy, and State, Federal and other regulatory agency requirements. May also coordinate the transcription processing to ensure the effective and efficient operation of the area and assist in coordinating the physician suspension process as well as perform a variety of other HIMS functions. In facilities with an electronic medical record, this position is responsible completing all HIMS workflow associated with imaged documents.

Qualifications :

Knowledge of health information practices and principles as normally demonstrated through one to two years HIMS experience is required. Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT) or Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA) eligible or equivalent is preferred. Highly developed technical skills related to computers, software applications and database maintenance is preferred. Working knowledge of medical terminology is preferred. Must have strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
