Clinical Consultant:
This position can be located anywhere in the continental US and requires up to 80% travel.
PURPOSE OF JOB:
The Clinical consultant participates in engagement planning and delivery including the development of work deliverables. The consultant should display project management skills such as consistent progress reports based on plan objectives, verbal and written presentation of findings, and identification and documentation of issues and subsequent facilitation of prompt resolution.
A bachelor?s and clinical degree/certification are education prerequisites. Experience requirements include prior employment with an acute care hospital, clinical IT implementation or a large consulting firm.
All consultants should demonstrate core competencies in their field of study, communication, process documentation, and project and relationship management. Experience with ?Lean? process improvements, Six Sigma, Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA), and other industry recognized methodologies is preferred, but not required.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & DUTIES:
1. Seeks out membership in client engagements based on ability to contribute.
2. Participates in engagement planning and/or delivery.
3. Displays project management skills (including competency with Microsoft Project), as individually specified. Tracks and reports progress against plan. Identifies and documents risks and issues, and ensures prompt and appropriate resolution. Effectively manages work papers.
4. Effectively communicates with engagement manager on activities and tasks assigned, on risks and issues that arise during the engagement.
5. Works effectively and shows leadership skills with client representatives, mostly as a planner and facilitator of activities required for the success of the engagement. Potentially, makes presentations at appropriate level in client organization. Develops strong and recognized relationships with customers as a byproduct of engagement work. Understands and communicates engagement value outside area of expertise.
6. Identifies and validates opportunities for add-on work.
7. Works effectively with sponsor. Identifies personal growth challenges and opportunities, structures performance plan, and seeks coaching accordingly. Seeks opportunities to develop task competency and methodology understanding/proficiency. Seeks opportunities to stretch current capabilities through observation and/or active participation for such activities as analyses, proposals, or presentations.
8. Exhibits leadership amongst colleagues by looking for opportunities to enhance the collective knowledge and skills of CCS (e.g., methodology development, presentation of new approach and results at CCS team meetings).

REQUIRED SKILLS
1. Demonstrated competency with Word, MS Project, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio, as appropriate for level.
2. Demonstrated success in business development activities.
3. Demonstrated competency with client relationship management skills.
4. Acute care clinical experience within the last 3 years
5. Successful candidates will have exposure to IS/IT consulting
6. Prior clinical software implementation experience is a plus
7. General understanding of services management related to the healthcare industry (provider, payor, or systems), as appropriate for level.
8. Ability to travel at least 80% in US and Canada
9. Education/Training: Must have a Bachelors degree and clinical degree/certification at the minimum, i.e., RN, RNP, or CRNA. Additional education/experience with emphasis in business, service management, computer sciences, and/or healthcare services or commensurate experience. Training in process design or reengineering.
10. Experience: Depending on level, typically requires five to seven years experience in clinical practice with an emphasis in acute care. Additional experience in healthcare management, information systems, or business administration would be a plus.
11. Specialized Knowledge & Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Problem solving skills. Experience in one or more McKesson Provider Technologies product areas or similar industry applications is desirableAdditional Knowledge & Skills
