Physician II Family Practitioner

 

JOB TITLE: PHYSICIAN II FAMILY PRACTITIONER(BOARD ELIGIBLE/CERTIFIED)

DEPARTMENT:     LA CLINICA PITTSBURG

CLASSIFICATION:  REGULAR PART-TIME/FULL-TIME 60%-100% (BASED ON A 40

  HOUR WORK WEEK)

REPORTS TO:   MEDICAL DIRECTOR

STATUS:   EXEMPT (NON-UNION POSITION)

SALARY:  NEGOTIABLE (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE) + FRINGE BENEFITS

 

 

 

THE POSITION: Under general direction the individual in this position is responsible for providing comprehensive outpatient medical services to patients of all ages and determines appropriate regimen. Additionally will be responsible for clinically supervising mid-level practitioners and co-signing charts.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

1. M.D degree from a recognized University, plus 1 to 2 years experience working in primary care clinic setting.

2. Possession of valid license to practice medicine in the State of California.

3. Position requires Board Certification in Family Practice, however will accept Board Eligible with ability to become Board Certified within two years of employment.

4. Creative skills, ability, resourcefulness and judgement in the analysis and solution of medical problems.

5. Sensitivity to needs of multi-cultural population with ability to work with a variety of personalities is essential.

6. Thorough knowledge of the principles, methods and objectives of modern medicine.

7. Excellent clinical and physical assessment skills essential.

8. Ability and willingness to work under pressure and as part of an interdisciplinary team.

9. Experience in managed care preferred.

10. Bilingual English/Spanish required.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Under the general direction of the Medical Director or designee:

1. Serves as primary physician for the Pittsburg clinic by providing routine, acute, urgent, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative medical care to patients of all ages and determines appropriate regimen as needed. Screens and monitors the management of stabilized chronic conditions, asymptomatic and well patient care. Initiates referrals to medical specialists as required. Clinically supervises mid-level practitioners and triage nurses, including chart review, co-signing, consultation and case conferences. Provides consultation for mid-level practitioners on the assessment, management and treatment of complicated cases.

2. Assists in developing and implementing procedures and protocols to facilitate delivery of comprehensive health care. Participates in staff conferences, staff meetings, quality assurance activities and QA Committee as needed.
