Nurse Practitioner Duties / Details:

 

Provide direct patient care consisting of examination, assessment, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of general medical conditions.

 

Provide primary medical care to patients, including prevention and health education and counseling, consistent with training and privileges.

 

Provide examinations, assessments, and screening of patients who require referral and consultations to other specialty providers.

 

Perform routine school physicals, sports physicals, and other physicals as required.

 

Provide consultations as required.

 

Participate in the Performance Improvement Program and hold appointments on committees as required.

 

Attend command orientation and annual training as required.

 

Attend Composite Health Care System (CHCS) training as appropriate to the position.

 

Participate in medical record review process and preceptor review.

 

Respond to staff nurse requests for assistance in cases of in-hospital emergencies.

 

Experience/Qualifications:

 

Masters of Nursing (ARNP) from an accredited college approved by the council on Medical Education and Hospitals of the American Medical Association.

 

Board certified or eligible by American Nursing Credentialing Center (ANCC) requirements and have successfully completed a training program recognized by an appropriate state agency.  If board eligible, the individual will be required to produce documentation that they have registered for testing for board eligibility and must subsequently become board certified in the 6 months after starting work.

 

A minimum three years experience within the last five years in providing health care to family practice patients as an advanced practice nurse.  Documentation evidencing this is required.

 

Have and maintain current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) and Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.

 

Hours:

 

The Department Chief will schedule the duty hours.  The contract HCP will provide services 40 hours per week, Monday though Friday, exclusive of Federal Holidays, exclusive of one-hour lunch period.  These hours may be subject to change as mutually agreed between the Department Chief, or his/her designated representative and the employee.
