Education/Licensure/Certification: Bachelor in Nursing, Certificate and or Registure Nurse Licence.


Qualifications: Appropriate licensure required. Able to fuction independently, Good analytical and crititcal thinking, experience in patient education.


Preferred Qualifications: Experience in Newborn screening, Metabolic, Genetics, Pediatrics, and Spanish speaking. Kaiser Health Services experience. Skills in using Kaiser information systems.


Duties: Assure proper follow up of presumptive positive, screen positive or diagnosed cases identified thriugh the state or other screening pecimen collection and monitoring of laboratory values dor patients and families. Work closely with the Metabolic specialist once presumptive positive patients are identified. Inform and educate members or families concerning the implications of their results. Liason with appropriate staff and local agencies responsible for specific program, prepare reports, communicate program changes to appropriate staff and develop protocals in accordance with state regulations. Prepare quarterly state report. Relief and assist newborn screening. Available on pager 7 days a week. Travel between Metabolic center LAMC and regional Genetics in Pasadena.  Consistently supports compliance and the Principles of Responsibility (Kaiser Permanente's Code of Conduct) by maintaining the privacy and confidentiality of information, protecting the assets of the organization, acting with ethics and integrity, reporting non compliance, and adhering to applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, accreditation and licenser requirements (if applicable), and Kaiser Permanente's policies and procedures.
