St. Mary Medical Center has served the diverse health care needs of Long Beach and its surrounding communities since 1923. Founded by the Sisters of Charity of the Incarnate Word of Houston, Texas, today's hospital is a direct result of their vision of community service. This hospital is known as a regional teaching hospital for the UCLA School of medicine, the St. Mary Heart Institute, the St. Mary Cancer Care Center, the Breast Center and the Trauma Center. Our campus includes four medical office buildings, a health education center and a 539-bed nonprofit hospital with all private patient rooms. The hospital offers the full-continuum of primary and secondary acute care services, including a trauma center and base station for paramedics, as well as an Emergency Department Approved for Pediatrics.
