Senior Software Engineer/Senior Java Developer

For more than 18 years, PSI has maintained our reputation for excellence in several "IT" service areas. We are immediately seeking Software Engineer-Java Developer candidates to support one of our Government customers in Kansas City, MO. This is a new project so this is the best time to get in on this long-term project!

Engineers software solutions based upon client requirements. Includes the construction, testing and deployment of large web-enabled processes on WebSphere Servers that use object-oriented work products. Work may include development of new systems and/or conversions, maintenance, or enhancements of existing systems. Object-oriented Java-based using E-commerce development tools and hardware components. Developing E-commerce applications for a Web deployment utilizing the software development platform of: SQL Server 2000; RAD. Deploying web services using SOAP technology and XML, and WSDL. Experience with technical environments involving IBM Websphere Application Server, IBM HTTP Server, and IBM MQSeries. Experience in the development and maintenance of J2EE and Java Web-based applications, and Open Source frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, and Drools. Experience in the development and maintenance of Web-based SQL Server 2000 applications and applying object-oriented (00) design and analysis skills. Deployment of e-commerce business solutions on the Web Farm. Experience utilizing RSA, RSM, RAD, Rational Clearcase, Rational ClearQuest, Rational Requisitepro and Rational Test Manager. Good communications skills (verbal and written). Excellent interpersonal and consulting skills to effectively represent the IT Services Team at the client site. Knowledge of relational databases, SQL based languages and object oriented application development languages. Uses commercially-available or custom CASE tools as required. Develops technical documentation detailing the project design parameters. May perform other duties as assigned. Object-oriented Java-based using E-commerce development tools and hardware components. Software: Microsoft Office, Acrobat 5.0, VISIO 2000, RSA (IBM Rational Software Architect), RSM (IBM Rational Software Modeler), RAD (IBM Rational Application Developer for WebSphere), JAVA, J2EE, Clearcase, ClearQuest, and Test Manager.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree or equivalent and 8 years of general experience. Six (6) years of general experience is considered equivalent to a Bachelor's Degree. With a Master's Degree, three (5) years of general experience are required. With a PhD, 3 years of general experience are required. Proven and extensive experience in applications development using JAVA, Websphere, etc. is required. Also, SQL Server and Rational tools are required. Position requires good interpersonal and communication skills.

Desired Qualifications:


Knowledge of Government Operations, particularly USDA programs, and experience with Section 508 desired.
