Federal DVS II Program System Engineer-COLUMBUS,OHIO

General Purpose of this Position 

To provide technical engineering assistance in support of the DISA DVS II Program @ DECC Columbus. Provide sub-contractor engineering support of RADVISION’s videoconferencing equipment in conjunction with being able to engineer, integrate and support various aspects of the DVS II Program.

Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesMaintain a current expert knowledge of all RADVISION products and services; Maintain, configure, and troubleshoot DVS II videoconferencing infrastructureProvide sub-contract engineering support to ensure successful implementation and on-going Operation and Maintenance of the system;Currently holds a United States Department of Defense Secret Clearance;Provide engineering input to prime contractor to develop and modify new solutions that can enhance or fix the current DVS II environment; Develop and maintain communications with all levels of the customer, ranging from project engineers to corporate presidents; Using a consultative style, advise customer on how to best utilize and integrate RADVISION’s solutions; Manage technical relationships between the company, prime contractor, sub-contractors and government employees; Assist government, prime contractor and sub-contractor with feasibility studies, equipment budgets, systems requirements and specifications as it pertains to the DVS II Program; Perform as equipment and technology specialist for the company and customer; Perform new product testing as it pertains to DVS II.

Knowledge All RADVISION products, peripherals and services, with a focus on a high level of technical expertise; Previous knowledge of working on Government programs and projectsCulture, organization, values and unique communication needs of each customer and potential customer; Concepts and principles of engineering that apply to videoconferencing and other relevant forms of the Operation and Maintenance of DVS II.  Working knowledge of the concepts and principles of sales, marketing, proposal development, customer service; Project management concepts and principles.

Skills and Abilities Demonstrate technical writing responses and formal documentation in a written and graphic format; Excellent analytical, diagnostic and problem-solving skills; Public speaking and presentation abilities, with a focus on presenting technical information to those with a non-technical background, including excellent active listening skills; Discuss videoconferencing technologies with a view to demonstrating their usefulness to the current customer; Work effectively across cross functional lines, in coordination with others involved on the contract;Manage DISA DVS II projects, including setting objectives and observing deadlines.

Computer AbilityExperience with circuit switched and packet data technologies such as ISDN, T1, T3, ATM, Frame Relay and high speed serial such as V. 35, RS-449; KIV encryption device experienceIP, Cisco IOS, switching and routing protocols; Win and Linux OS; Engineer solutions with emerging technologies, such as VOIP; Knowledge of the entire H. 323 / H.320 suite of standards; Experience with Tandberg, Accord, Polycom and other videoconferencing manufacturers; Usual PC proficiency – Windows XP, Win 2000/2003 (Server), MS Office.

Education 

Bachelor’s degree in electrical, computer or telecommunications engineering desired.  In the absence of a formal degree, at least 7 years of progressively responsible, directly applicable experience in which incumbent learned to perform the requirements of the position may be substituted.

Certification

CCNA and MCSE desired.

Working conditions

Varying indoor working conditions at the customer location (Columbus OH).  Travel of 25% or more.  Must be able to move equipment and peripherals.
