Director, Government Affairs
Description: Cox Job Summary: Has strategic responsibility for improved competitive positioning of video, telephony and/or data businesses through collaborative efforts with the senior management team to influence legislative and regulatory bodies at local, state and federal levels. Serves as the day-to-day contact for managing regulatory issues within the state and/or assisting with state regulatory matters within the region.
Cox Illustrative Accountabilities:
Has complete responsibility for knowledge and communication of all legislative and regulatory activities impacting the local systems. Coordinates resources to lobby effectively to align system(s) with future legislation. Coordinates regulatory and legislative initiatives atr local, state and federal levels. Coordinates the filing of reports, notices, tariffs and other required filings with appropriate commissions and regulatory agencies. Coordinates responses to commission data requests or other commission or regulatory inquiries. Attends and/or monitors commission and regulatory meetings, and monitors industry and other state regulatory activity. Provides periodic briefings/training on regulatory issues for operational groups; assists operational groups with compliance. Reviews and negotiates franchise renewals and interconnection agreements; monitors interconnection issues. Coordinates work product preparation with outside attorneys and other Cox staff.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
Responsible for measuring the performance of all individual contributors in the government and regulatory affairs function.
Qualifications:
Cox Qualifications:
Related undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience required. Five years of regulatory/government affairs experience in the telecommunications industry or other heavily regulated environment. Legal degree preferred, but not required.
