Rio Tinto Operational & Technical Excellence Group (OTX) provides global support and services to Rio Tinto and its operational Business Units across a range of technical functions.  The purpose of OTX is to assist Business Units to create and protect value for Rio Tinto shareholders through the implementation of leading practice mining technology, systems and practices

 

Part of OTX is Shared Expertise. The purpose of Shared Expertise is to manage and deliver improvement projects to Rio Tinto Operations as well as provide ongoing technical support. With offices in the UK, America and Australia, Shared Expertise operates within the OTX collaborative environment.

 

Due to continued growth we are now seeking a number of Principal Advisers - Business Analysts to join the team.

 

The principle purpose of the role is to provide high level analysis and business improvement advice. The brief will include working as a team member on projects ranging from conceptual through to due diligence (mergers, acquisitions and existing operations) teams. On occasion, the Principal Adviser Business Analyst will lead the project team.

 

Qualifications and required experience:

 

1. Degree qualified in the area of mining, processing, metallurgy or other technical field, or alternatively, a commercial orientated undergraduate degree complemented by significant experience in a technical environment.

2. It is essential that you hold MBA and Securities Institute qualifications are desirable.

3. Significant experience in the mining, allied or manufacturing environment and to be familiar with best practice business improvement methodologies (e.g. lean manufacturing).

4. Strong modelling skills.

5. Significant experience in operation costing, capital investment appraisal techniques and theory.

6. An understanding of the principals of risk management.

7. Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to influence and persuade across all levels of the organisation.
