Finance Manager, Engineering and Quality

 

The candidate will be a business partner to the Engineering and Quality organizations, responsible for financial reporting and analysis on a broad range of financial and business issues. Primary focus of the candidate will be in three areas:

 

1.  Finance owner of engineering budgets & planning process for VSEA’s Engineering organization. Interface directly with Engineering management and report to the VP of Engineering on all aspects of budgets & planning. Challenges include identifying opportunities to achieve aggressive spending targets while at same time maintaining TTM of multiple products. Candidate will benchmark other companies to identify opportunities to improve efficiency and effectiveness of engineering function.

 

2.  Finance owner on Varian’s Change Control Board (CCB, where all proposed product changes are proposed and ultimately approved), with responsibility of ensuring that VSEA makes optimal margin tradeoffs on all of its product changes.

 

3.  Finance business partner to the Quality organization.  Directly support the Director of Quality, with specific responsibilities including rework & scrap analysis, retrofit analysis, and managing retrofit accounting (support monthly retrofit meeting w/VP of Engineering, determine appropriate retrofit reserve, analyze reserve for adequacy, and supporting monthly review with VP of Engineering. Analyst needs to make tradeoffs and perform function efficiently to spend ~20% of time in this role.

    Experience:

  strong background in finance.

  MBA preferred but not required.

  background in technology firm preferred but not required
