Aware, Inc., a 110-person publicly held technology company based in Bedford, Massachusetts, seeks a qualified candidate for the position of Finance Manager.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

The Finance Manager will report to the Corporate Controller and be responsible for financial planning and analysis, business process and systems improvement, the Aware SOX program, and other financial projects as requested by management.

 

DUTIES
Financial planning and analysis, including budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis. This includes preparation of the financial analysis and commentary included in the internal Financial Management Reports, and other Board presentations.  Also supports the Corporate strategic planning process from a financial modeling standpoint.
Administration of the Company’s Sarbanes-Oxley program including developing and administering all test scripts.  Perform special internal audits as requested by management.
Business process and systems improvement, with initial focus on the following: 

· Financial Reporting (OLAP)

· Budgeting system and cost center reporting

· Labor reporting

· MAX and other manufacturing and inventory control and reporting systems

· Employee expense reporting
Customer contract analysis (profitability, terms, etc.) and revenue recognition.  Assist Finance Department to work closely with Sales, Marketing and Engineering:



· Finance issues encountered during negotiation of contracts, with particular emphasis on appropriate revenue recognition.

· Finance issues encountered during execution of contracts and delivery of products, with particular emphasis on appropriate revenue recognition.

· Where appropriate, present alternatives that would clarify or improve ability to recognize revenue.

· Analyze and clearly present to management appropriate revenue recognition of final contract terms on a quarterly basis (current quarter and next quarter forecast)

· Determine and clearly present to management deferred revenue on a quarterly basis.

· Monitor all revenue-related technical developments (SEC/FASB/EITFs), interpret requirements as they pertain to the Company and develop and implement plans to meet requirements.
M&A activities including due diligence, divestitures, etc.
Serve as back-up to the Corporate Controller, developing the ability to step into the role at any time if needed.
Treasury responsibilities including maintaining and monitoring bank and investment accounts and signatory requirements, wire transfers, etc.
Coordinate tax preparation by outside tax professionals and assume responsibility for preparation of the tax provision for review by outside tax professionals.

 

REQUIREMENTS

 

Education:   BS in Finance/Accounting, MBA or Masters in Accounting Preferred


Experience:5 to 7 Years in Finance/Accounting, MS Great Plains, OLAP Tools
